Bookkeeping & QuickBooks FAQ
Answers to the questions Cypress and Houston business owners ask most about bookkeeping, QuickBooks Online and working with me.
Getting started
How does the free consultation work?
It’s a 20–30 minute phone or video call. We talk about your business, how your books are kept today and what you need. If it’s a fit, I’ll ask for read-only access or a few statements so I can send you a fixed quote. There’s no obligation.
Do you work with businesses outside Cypress and Houston?
Yes. I’m based in Cypress, TX and serve Tomball, Katy and the Greater Houston area, but most work is done remotely in QuickBooks Online, so I work with clients across the U.S., including Tennessee.
Do I need to meet you in person?
No. Everything can be handled securely online with phone or video calls. If you’re local and prefer to meet, we can set that up by appointment.
What information do you need from me to start?
Usually QuickBooks Online accountant access (or a plan to set it up), recent bank and credit card statements, any loan statements, payroll reports and your most recent tax return or year-end financials.
QuickBooks
Do you only work in QuickBooks Online?
QuickBooks Online is my specialty and what I recommend for most small businesses. If you’re on QuickBooks Desktop or spreadsheets, I can help you move to QuickBooks Online.
Can you fix my messy QuickBooks file?
Yes—cleanup is one of my most requested services. I’ll review the file, correct categorizations and duplicates, reconcile accounts and leave you with a clean, reliable file.
Can you set up QuickBooks Online for my new business?
Absolutely. I’ll set up the company, a chart of accounts that fits your industry, bank feeds and rules, and walk you through how to use it.
Services & pricing
How much does bookkeeping cost?
Monthly bookkeeping starts at $250/month, and cleanup projects start at $500. Your exact flat fee depends on transaction volume, the number of accounts and entities, and how current your books are. See the Pricing page for details.
I’m months (or years) behind. Can you help?
Yes. Catch-up bookkeeping is quoted as a fixed project. I’ll bring everything current and reconciled, then we can move to a monthly plan to keep it that way.
Do you do payroll?
I provide payroll support: setting up and maintaining payroll in QuickBooks Online Payroll or working alongside providers like Gusto and ADP, recording payroll correctly and reconciling payroll liabilities.
Can you handle multiple businesses or LLCs?
Yes. Multi-entity bookkeeping is a specialty—separate, consistent books for each entity, with intercompany activity tracked and reconciled.
Do you prepare tax returns?
No. I’m a bookkeeper, not a CPA. I keep your books accurate and CPA-ready and work directly with your tax preparer. I’m happy to recommend one if you need it.
Security & communication
How do you keep my financial information secure?
I use QuickBooks Online’s accountant access (so you never share your password), secure file sharing and multi-factor authentication. Your information is kept confidential.
How quickly do you respond?
I respond to calls and emails within one business day, Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm Central.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Monthly plans are month-to-month. Projects are quoted and agreed in writing before work begins.
Still have a question?
Call or email me directly—I’m happy to help, even if you’re not ready to hire a bookkeeper yet.
